’tis the season

Homegrown New Jersey fruits and vegetables are one of the best parts about summer. Corn on the cob (a personal favorite) is one of the tastiest ways to get in the mood for summer. Is there anything better than a sweet ear of corn on the grill, coated in butter and salt? Other than of course Jersey tomatoes. And fresh blueberries and juicy peaches. What are your favorite summer foods??

Bringing summer into full swing, Independence Day is right around the corner. Nothing says Happy 4th of July like family barbecues with your favorite summer foods. Enjoy the day off work and spend some quality time enjoying some fresh summer produce with the ones you love. While you’re at it, exercise your freedom to photograph!! It’s the perfect time to practice some outdoor portraiture, event photography, and yes, even food photography!

As always, happy shooting!

Depth of field

Choosing the depth of field of a photograph is a crucial part of creating an effective photograph. Selective focus on a certain part of the image directs the viewer’s eye to what you want them to focus on. As you can see in this example, the viewer’s attention is directed to the center of the artichoke, putting the emphasis on the texture of the vegetable.

Try this at home! Work on taking photographs of an object using varying points of focus and amounts of depth of field. See how this affects the image.

Happy shooting. 🙂
