Put ‘Em Up!

As the Italian Stallion Rocky Balboa once said, “it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

Claressa Shields, 17 year old American Boxing Olympic hopeful is an inspiration to our “Riplee Shields” who has gone undefeated in all her matches. It must be those hand-made gloves
that Linda Bohm crafted just for her. She takes on every opponent, even if they are twice her size. This image was shot for Splash News to show the world that there are gold medal winners in every species.

Stay tuned to find out about more Animal Olympic Medalists!

Dive In!

Make a splash of the rest of the summer! Jump in to your local pool or swim club! Bring an underwater camera to catch some great summer action. Or stage some wet and wild summer adventures like Bohm-Marrazzo did here with these adorable bears. Believe it or not, still lives can be packed with just as much action as movement shots!
A few important things to consider when creating an action-filled still-life:

  1. Create the illusion of motion. As you can see the bears are posed in such a way that suggests momentum. The diving board the bear is jumping off of bends as if his weigh mid-jump is causing the spring!
  2. Lighting is key. Just as important as always, light the scene carefully!
  3. Think about the environment! The sky in the background and shrubbery along the fence suggest a very real setting to the viewer!
  4. Have fun with it!

Happy Shooting.

Rain, rain, go away…or stay.

There is something relaxing and beautiful about a rainy summer day. The heavy grey clouds filter the harsh sun into a calming soft light.
Cool droplets of water sprinkle the thirsty plants and over-baked pavement. Spend the day inside enjoying the simple pleasures of home. Or go out and embrace the weather.
Overcast skies often create some of the most captivating light for photography. Take an umbrella (for you and your camera), and photograph out in the rain!

Go ahead, jump in the puddles; get soaked! Who said a beautiful day had to be a sunny day?

Happy Shooting. 🙂
