How Do You Make A Great First Impression?

Both actors and models alike need a great headshot. It is the first thing any casting director will see from the agency. It is the piece of you that is left as a reminder after an interview or audition. It is your foot in the door. And it needs to be strong. Your headshot image should reflect the mental image you want to leave. Find a great photographer, and not necessarily the cheapest. This also doesn’t mean that a $5,000 photo shoot for one image is the best quality. Be reasonable, and do your homework. Make the best first impression you can -you only get one. _MG_7326

In honor of the recent horse races, we found an oldie and a goodie — Shot at the Marlboro Cup in the late 1970’s-early 1980’s.

New York (CNN) — Tonalist won the 146th Belmont Stakes Saturday, denying the heavily favored California Chrome his chance to become the first Triple Crown winner in 36 years.

Will You Marry Me?

We had the amazing opportunity to be a part of a surprise proposal —

Our eager groom-to-be got down on one knee and asked the love of his life for her hand in marriage, while overlooking  a lit up skyline of New York City from the hills of Montclair, NJ.

We, your trusted photographers, hid in the bushes.

Our best wishes for our happy newly engaged couple!  Congrats!

Finishing in 7th —

This happy blogger once wanted to be a race car driver — what did you want to be when you were a kid? Are you doing that now?

“In 1986, Marlboro increased its auto racing involvement,
sponsoring its first Indy Car entry . The Marlboro #20 March 86C,
prepared by Patrick Racing, was driven by two-time Formula One
World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi . Marlboro was Fittipaldi’s
sponsor in 1974 when he won his second Formula One World Title
with the Marlboro McLaren Team . Fittipaldi won his first Indy
Car race for Marlboro at Elkhart Lake .” –http://legacy.library.ucsf.edu/documentStore/w/o/o/woo48c00/Swoo48c00.pdf

Ektachromes

We’ve been doing some spring cleaning!  We opened our drawers, filing cabinets and trunks and started going through some old film, slides and negatives from back in the day when there were no digital cameras, and definitely no photoshop!

Ektachrome is a brand name owned by Kodak for a range of transparency, still, and motion picture films available in most formats, including 35 mm and sheet sizes to 11×14 inch size.  Ektachrome, initially developed in the early 1940s, allowed professionals and amateurs alike to process their own films. It also made color reversal film more practical in larger formats, and the Kodachrome Professional film in sheet sizes was later discontinued.   –Wikipedia

aaaand….ACTION!

We’ve been keeping ourselves busy these last few weeks!

In between photographing Christmas cards in June and Amusement Parks in September for next summer season, we took another step into the wonderful world of videography.  Here, we are on set for a TV commercial to be aired nationwide.

There is a great deal of skilled people and a highly creative set of minds that go into advertising.   On any given shoot, you have the Director, Videographer, Client, Copywriter, Sound Guy, Grip, Talent, Hair and Wardrobe Stylists, Set Stylists, Extra Hands… and that’s just to name a few.
20130917_124812BOGWhy is our actress standing in front of a giant green screen?  It is for movie magic in the making.  With a green screen, you are able to put your subject in whatever environment you choose.  She could be standing on a beach in Jamaica, or in the middle of the Kentucky Derby!

We will keep you posted on more of our adventures… in the meantime.. stay creative!

Happy Thursday!

Nobody ever really thinks about Thursday.  The ‘real’ middle child of the week.  Many would think that Wednesday has it the worst, but they are wrong.  Although it gets misspelled every now and again, good old Wednesday is the peak of many a week.  We know that we’ve made it through the dreary Mondays and the hopeful Tuesdays. We can look forward to the ever so casual Thursday and the excitement of Friday.    But Thursday on its own, well, it seldom gets the credit it deserves.

We like Thursdays because of its hype for the weekend. We like Thursdays for the fact that its different – we use an ‘R’ to abbreviate it.  It’s homey, its calming, its pub night, its Thursday.

So, Happy Thursday!, everyone!  Get out there and celebrate!
