Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bac-y

Rise and shine! Take a big stretch and wipe the sleep out of those eyes! The week is mid-way through!

Reine the lovely Afghan hound certainly got her beauty sleep! But was it enough? If you’re having a tough time waking up today, like Reine, read on!

Here are some tips and tricks to get yourself awake and ready for the day:

  1. Drink a cool glass of water in the morning. The cool temperature will wake you up and the water will kickstart your metabolism making you wake up faster.
  2. Exercise in the morning! A brisk jog or bike ride in the morning air will waken your body and give you more energy for the following day as you improve your fitness.
  3. Don’t drink coffee everyday. You’re body will be accustomed to the effects of caffeine. Save the coffee for those days you really need it!
  4. Don’t Snooze! Snoozing the alarm clock can often make you more tired than if you wake up when your alarm first goes off.
  5. Get pumped! Find something to get excited about today to get you motivated to get moving.

Thanks to Diane Bauman for our sleeping beauty, Reine.

Bet you can’t read this post without yawning…

It’s that time of the week! Wacky Wednesday is here. This week we’re celebrating with the lovely Afghan hound Reine.

Seeing someone else yawn, it may be impossible to resist the urge to yawn yourself. Even reading about yawning can cause the impulse to be irresistible. Here are some fun facts about yawning:

  • Almost all creatures on the planet yawn, including snakes, fish, and dogs!
  • The purpose of yawning is to cool brain temperature and actually keep you awake.
  • Contagious yawning is an ancient ritual that evolve to help groups stay alert to detect any threats and danger.
  • Dogs yawn to stay calm in certain situations.

Hopefully this post makes you yawn, and helps you stay awake on this wacky Wednesday!

Thanks to Diane Bauman for the beautiful Reine starting this chain reaction!

Cruisin’

This week is just flying on by! We have already approached Wednesday, mid-week. This talented Afghan puppy is cruising along, too!

Contrary to popular belief, Afghan Hounds are quite intelligent and trainable, as you can see here as the puppy skateboards by. This photograph was taken when the puppy was only 8 weeks old! Credits to world-renowned trainer Diane Bauman for the talented pup!

Afghan Hounds Are Smarter Than You Think!

According to Stanley Coren’s The Intelligence of Dogs, the Afghan Hound is the least intelligent dog of the 110 breeds that were ranked. Sorry Mr. Coren, we (and these adorable Afghan puppies) beg to differ.

These precious Afghan Hound puppies are merely 8 weeks old. They are already being trained by their co-owner, world-renowned trainer Diane Bauman and learning fast! Despite where Stanley Coren
ranks Afghan’s in his intelligence scale, you can see for yourself how smart these dogs really are.

Our friend Diane Bauman is now looking for performance homes for some of these pups. They’re far too smart to just sit there and look pretty!
Let us know if you are interested and we can lead you in the right direction.
