Welcome Home, Sealie!

Welcome to the family, Seallie!

Our newest addition, a two-year old Border Collie, rescued from a life of nothing and no one to a wonderfully loving home!

Our ‘Silly Seallie’ was passed from one home to another.  These homes were unsure of how to handle a young and excited pup full of energy.

Left alone and near death, Seallie was taken to an incredibly talented dog and animal trainer, Diane Baumen, who assessed this little one as almost perfect, needing only a few small tweaks.

Today, our ‘Seallie Monster’ enjoys turning on and off the lights, playing tag with kittens and doing the dishes!

…Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to run around outside!

Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bac-y

Rise and shine! Take a big stretch and wipe the sleep out of those eyes! The week is mid-way through!

Reine the lovely Afghan hound certainly got her beauty sleep! But was it enough? If you’re having a tough time waking up today, like Reine, read on!

Here are some tips and tricks to get yourself awake and ready for the day:

  1. Drink a cool glass of water in the morning. The cool temperature will wake you up and the water will kickstart your metabolism making you wake up faster.
  2. Exercise in the morning! A brisk jog or bike ride in the morning air will waken your body and give you more energy for the following day as you improve your fitness.
  3. Don’t drink coffee everyday. You’re body will be accustomed to the effects of caffeine. Save the coffee for those days you really need it!
  4. Don’t Snooze! Snoozing the alarm clock can often make you more tired than if you wake up when your alarm first goes off.
  5. Get pumped! Find something to get excited about today to get you motivated to get moving.

Thanks to Diane Bauman for our sleeping beauty, Reine.

Tech-Savvy

So, our tech-savvy Pyrenean Shepard, Whoopee wants to know, who has the new iPhone 5? This new piece of technology was released this week, and has some significant improvements with the photography aspect. It’s been reported that there are improvements in low-light captures, repetitive shooting without delay, and increased quality in the front camera. With technology improving it is becoming easier and easier to get good quality photos. Having the iPhone is great for capturing nice pictures on the go!

However, it’s important to remember that technology doesn’t make the photo, it’s the photographer behind the camera who makes or breaks an image. Technology can’t hold a candle to exceptional lighting and an interesting composition! That’s why there are still professionals. 🙂

Portrait Photography 101

The DON’Ts of portrait photography:

  • When photographing a group of people, don’t leave the positioning up to them! Try to position them in a way that shows they like each other.
  • Don’t forget to make them smile!
  • Be the stylist. Don’t let the subjects of your portrait wear drab or unflattering garments.
  • Location, location, location. Don’t just take the photograph anywhere. Think about the setting and choose somewhere that contributes to the mood of the picture.

Agility

Cat Agility – that’s what you do when your MACH dogs are too old to run.
My 5 month old Somali Pippi placed FIRST Saturday against the top agility cats coming from Cali, Oregon, Va and Ohio at a huge regional cat show in Pa. This was our first competition and I never expected to win and secure two agility titles for her.We made history as the first Somali ever to place first and earn two titles. And this is only the beginning!
