Ektachromes

We’ve been doing some spring cleaning!  We opened our drawers, filing cabinets and trunks and started going through some old film, slides and negatives from back in the day when there were no digital cameras, and definitely no photoshop!

Ektachrome is a brand name owned by Kodak for a range of transparency, still, and motion picture films available in most formats, including 35 mm and sheet sizes to 11×14 inch size.  Ektachrome, initially developed in the early 1940s, allowed professionals and amateurs alike to process their own films. It also made color reversal film more practical in larger formats, and the Kodachrome Professional film in sheet sizes was later discontinued.   –Wikipedia

aaaand….ACTION!

We’ve been keeping ourselves busy these last few weeks!

In between photographing Christmas cards in June and Amusement Parks in September for next summer season, we took another step into the wonderful world of videography.  Here, we are on set for a TV commercial to be aired nationwide.

There is a great deal of skilled people and a highly creative set of minds that go into advertising.   On any given shoot, you have the Director, Videographer, Client, Copywriter, Sound Guy, Grip, Talent, Hair and Wardrobe Stylists, Set Stylists, Extra Hands… and that’s just to name a few.
20130917_124812BOGWhy is our actress standing in front of a giant green screen?  It is for movie magic in the making.  With a green screen, you are able to put your subject in whatever environment you choose.  She could be standing on a beach in Jamaica, or in the middle of the Kentucky Derby!

We will keep you posted on more of our adventures… in the meantime.. stay creative!

PB&J

Alright everyone… it’s time to get real.  Peanut Butter and Jam sandies (otherwise known as PB&J) are maybe one of the worlds better inventions.  From its beginning, it was a match made in Heaven.    This magical union supposedly originated in the USA and according to Wikipedia, “A 2002 survey showed the average American will have eaten 2,500 of these sandwiches before graduating from high school.”  I believe I am one of those stats they are talking about.

You can make a PB&J without using real peanut butter – this we have learned from all of our allergy friends out there — cashew butter, almond butter or even no-nut peabutter – can still do the trick.

Now, we happened to stumble on the greatest Buzzfeed post — The most delicious pull we got from their take on PB&J’s came in the form of French Toast —- YUMMMMM!

Once again… YUM.

If you’ll all excuse me… I’m going to the kitchen.

Happy Thursday!

Nobody ever really thinks about Thursday.  The ‘real’ middle child of the week.  Many would think that Wednesday has it the worst, but they are wrong.  Although it gets misspelled every now and again, good old Wednesday is the peak of many a week.  We know that we’ve made it through the dreary Mondays and the hopeful Tuesdays. We can look forward to the ever so casual Thursday and the excitement of Friday.    But Thursday on its own, well, it seldom gets the credit it deserves.

We like Thursdays because of its hype for the weekend. We like Thursdays for the fact that its different – we use an ‘R’ to abbreviate it.  It’s homey, its calming, its pub night, its Thursday.

So, Happy Thursday!, everyone!  Get out there and celebrate!

On Pointe

The New Jersey Ballet

Toes pointedTummy engaged. Back straight. Shoulders relaxedBottom tuckedLong neck…And this is why dancing is a fine art form.

The list of details to remember in ballet can go on and on, but it’s the way these details come together that really makes the magic happen. No matter what you’re doing, attention to detail must not be ignored. In photography, elements like texture, angle, depth of field, lighting, and pattern all join in to capture the perfect shot. Let’s take this image, for example. If you want to emphasize the shape of the ballerina’s feet, you might take an angle that shows the arch of her foot by the straight line of the stage floor. That way, you can wow your audience just as much as The NJ Ballet.

It’s all about what you’re trying to say

So, stay On Pointe!
