Happy Birthday Whoopee!

HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY WHOOPEE!

Today, we celebrate our Pyrenean Sheppard’s 13th Birthday!  MACH “Whoopee” was among the trailblazing Pyr Sheps who made their mark in the agility world. Retired from the ring for the past four years, she lives an active life of modeling, hiking and running our photography business.

We happily celebrate this long life after finding an aggressive cancer tumor on her hind foot.

Read below to see some of our updates on her progress.

April 19, 2013:  Radiation journey begins… Waiting for my terrific little pyr shep to begin her healing journey for a sarcoma that has all but covered her hind foot. Today is the fitting for an demobilizer so the radiation next week can be precise. Trying to hold my emotions in check …. Not easy as everyone of you knows what it’s like to fight for your dog’s life.

April 29, 2013: Whoopee Radiation Report – thanks to everyone for support and healing prayers – this new experience is so far a non event.

We went to the Vet MRI & Radiotherapy Center of NJ, located in Clifton, where she showed no fear each of the four consecutive days we went last week. The staff were so caring and attentive to Whoopee that she actually pulled me into the front door each day – how about that? After the initial CAT Scan, they made a mold of her body with a cover that would insure the exact position each of the three days of radiation.

She went through the full anesthesia with no problem and seems very happy. Now it’s a waiting game, as it takes several months to see the effects – good and bad – of the radiation on her foot and tumor. I did the right thing with this treatment and hope that it adds a few more happy years to her life expectancy. I highly recommend this center – which is one of only three in the country that offer a three day radiation treatment for tumors. Hope none of you ever need it for your four legged children.

May 7, 2013: The radiation worked!!!!!Whoopee’s horrible tumor on her hind foot is already shrinking and today, oncologist Dr. Renee Alsarraf, saw her and was thrilled to see so much change in just two weeks of the concentrated radiation treatment. Looks like we’re on the road to recovery!!!!!! Thank you Dr. Alsarraf and all you wonderful friends who sent healing prayers and good energy to help my wonderful pyr shep fight cancer and hopefully, beat it.

May 23, 2013Whoopee celebrates this day with a big smile – she feels great – her appetite is back and she even jumped over some low fences in the backyard – thanks to state of the art radiation cancer treatment available and great vets – we look forward to the next milestone with her cancer in remission!

Happy Mothers Day

Wishing everyone and their families a very Happy Mothers Day!

Our good friend Diane Bauman shared a special occasion with us — one of her sheep giving birth to not one, but TWO beautiful little ones.   We were fortunate enough to have a camera handy as the proud mama delivered the babies one after the other.

The whole sheep family then came by to congratulate and welcome the new additions!

The lambs were quickly up on their feet, walking around and exploring.  Soon after, they cozied up to their (exhausted!) mother and took a restful nap!

Lazy Lady

We know, we know…. The Pipster again!?!  But hey!. our little one just became a little lady – We celebrated the Pips first birthday with her best friends, Luca, Whoopee and Sealee – two Border Collies and a PyrShep!

After her favorite treats and a dance party (relax, photos to follow), our champion Somali decided to find herself a cozy spot on the floor and laze for the rest of the day.

Happy Birthday Pippi!

Welcome Home, Sealie!

Welcome to the family, Seallie!

Our newest addition, a two-year old Border Collie, rescued from a life of nothing and no one to a wonderfully loving home!

Our ‘Silly Seallie’ was passed from one home to another.  These homes were unsure of how to handle a young and excited pup full of energy.

Left alone and near death, Seallie was taken to an incredibly talented dog and animal trainer, Diane Baumen, who assessed this little one as almost perfect, needing only a few small tweaks.

Today, our ‘Seallie Monster’ enjoys turning on and off the lights, playing tag with kittens and doing the dishes!

…Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to run around outside!

Let’r Rip!

Our wonderfully strong, Riplee, has done it again!

Riplee Balboa defended her World Titles by defeating The Other Guy  in round 3 of their heavyweight battle. It was the 25th victory of Riplee’s career to end by knockout and her 27th victory overall. Riplee Balboa, the wondercat, dominated from start to finish. Whatever game plan The Other Guy brought into the ring failed miserably, he could not keep up with the range and power of his mighty opponent.

Put ’em up!!!

On the Podium

As the Olympic Games slow down and draw to a close, the whole world waits to see the final medal count.
With China and the United States neck-and-neck for first place we all watch with anticipation.

Our Cat Olympians take pride in what ever medals they have acquired, as you can see here. Riplee raises her arms in victory of winning the first place gold medal.
Pippi stands noble in second place with her silver medal, (although jealous hints of her inner Maroney show through as she places a paw onto the coveted first place).
And last, but by no means the least, the 18 year old Bonnie proudly sports her bronze.

These gymnastic cats are decorated in wrist bands and collars to represent their homelands on the medal podium. Their Olympic costumes were crafted by Linda Bohm to help each cat look their best!

Inspired by American gymnast Gabby Douglas who made history when she took home the gold in individual and team all-around.
Not to mention Gabby is the first African-American to win the all-around in gymnastics.
Riplee embraces the proud and enthusiastic spirit of Gabby’s record-breaking Olympic moments here on the medal podium.

Thanks for supporting the Bohm-Marrazzo Animal Olympics of 2012!
Happy Sporting. 🙂

Afghan Hounds Are Smarter Than You Think!

According to Stanley Coren’s The Intelligence of Dogs, the Afghan Hound is the least intelligent dog of the 110 breeds that were ranked. Sorry Mr. Coren, we (and these adorable Afghan puppies) beg to differ.

These precious Afghan Hound puppies are merely 8 weeks old. They are already being trained by their co-owner, world-renowned trainer Diane Bauman and learning fast! Despite where Stanley Coren
ranks Afghan’s in his intelligence scale, you can see for yourself how smart these dogs really are.

Our friend Diane Bauman is now looking for performance homes for some of these pups. They’re far too smart to just sit there and look pretty!
Let us know if you are interested and we can lead you in the right direction.

Your Pet Ought to be in Pictures!

Packaging photography can be a lot of fun when working with adorable furry models!

At the Cat Expo this past weekend Bohm-Marrazzo Photography had a booth with some of the packages we did the photography for and some

information on how you can get your pet into pictures.

Read on to find out more!

How to get your pet into advertising…

  1. Lights, Camera, Action! Take lots of photos of your pet so they get comfortable with the flash!
  2. Your four-legged friend should feel at home…everywhere. When your pet is young bring them out to mingle with other people and pets in various environments so they will feel comfortable in new places.
  3. It’s all about training. Your pet should be trained to sit and stay and hold a pose. Tricks and agility are always bonuses.
  4. Submit the best of the best. When sending in photos of your pet for casting opportunities make sure you send the best, well lit photographs because the better the photo the more likely they will make the cut.
  5. Ready for their close up? Keep your pet in shape and healthy to increase their chances of getting chosen for the job.
  6. Contact us! Send in your photos and information about your pet to casting@bohm-marrazzo.com if you think your pet has what it takes. If we think your pet is a future superstar we’ll contact you back!
