Welcome Home, Sealie!

Welcome to the family, Seallie!

Our newest addition, a two-year old Border Collie, rescued from a life of nothing and no one to a wonderfully loving home!

Our ‘Silly Seallie’ was passed from one home to another.  These homes were unsure of how to handle a young and excited pup full of energy.

Left alone and near death, Seallie was taken to an incredibly talented dog and animal trainer, Diane Baumen, who assessed this little one as almost perfect, needing only a few small tweaks.

Today, our ‘Seallie Monster’ enjoys turning on and off the lights, playing tag with kittens and doing the dishes!

…Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to run around outside!

Let’r Rip!

Our wonderfully strong, Riplee, has done it again!

Riplee Balboa defended her World Titles by defeating The Other Guy  in round 3 of their heavyweight battle. It was the 25th victory of Riplee’s career to end by knockout and her 27th victory overall. Riplee Balboa, the wondercat, dominated from start to finish. Whatever game plan The Other Guy brought into the ring failed miserably, he could not keep up with the range and power of his mighty opponent.

Put ’em up!!!

Parachutes

In June,  we had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a local TV commercial for St. Peter’s University Hospital.

St. Peter’s has a large pediatric program and delivers as many as 6,100 babies each year! This commercial is meant to highlight their many advanced departments in baby and child care.

It was baby-mania for the days leading up to this shoot – including casting for all of the little ones and going into full production mode!

Here is one of the spots that St. Peter’s has posted on their website, and has been showing on local television:

Thanks to all the babies and their parents who participated. The third and final  spot will hopefully be coming out soon. Stay tuned!!

Tis the Season…for Flu Shots!

It’s that time of year again! Sneezing, coughing, fevers….colds and viruses are going around. Combat against sickness and germs by following a few guidelines:

  • Remember to wash your hands with warm water and soap often.
  • When coughing and sneezing, use a tissue or your elbow! Keep your hands germ free.
  • Dress for the weather. Be prepared for chilly nights or rain showers that may sneak up on you. Pack a coat and small umbrella in your bag.
  • Get a flu vaccination. Either by nasal spray or shot, arm yourself against this year’s flu virus.
  • Make sure you get plenty of rest. Keep your immune system going strong by getting the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

Don’t let your health stand in the way of making photographs! Prevent illness so you can keep on keepin’ on, and do what you do best!

Stay healthy!

Cold Weather is Rushing In!

From a solid 80 degrees earlier last week, this unpredictable NJ fall has sped into a chilly wintry temperature. With low temperatures creeping into the 40’s this weather is quite a shock! So get ready for a wild winter! Break out those heavy coats and toasty gloves for the frigid evenings ahead.

Although many of us weren’t ready for such a quick start into cold weather, embrace it! Have some hot coffee or hot chocolate and bundle yourself up. Get out and get some winter action like skiing up in the mountains before the winter rush!

Think warm thoughts!

Composition is Key

Composition controls many aspects of a photograph. When making an image the way the photographer frames the image is crucial. In this photograph taken for Saint Peter’s University Hospital, the way that the faces of the subjects are shown in the mirror, while still giving a hint of the rest of their figures in the foreground gives a sense of space and action. The viewer better understands what is going on being able to see that they are in fact standing in front of the mirror. The image captures a very intimate moment of a speech pathologist helping a patient re-learn to speak. Capturing the image in this way leads to a very successful double portrait in which there is a relationship built between the subjects and between the viewer and subjects.

Think about how the way you compose a photograph has an effect on the photographs message. Try to compose in such a way that the whole story is told. Remember to try different angles, distances and crops to find the perfect fit for your image!

Happy Shooting! :]

Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bac-y

Rise and shine! Take a big stretch and wipe the sleep out of those eyes! The week is mid-way through!

Reine the lovely Afghan hound certainly got her beauty sleep! But was it enough? If you’re having a tough time waking up today, like Reine, read on!

Here are some tips and tricks to get yourself awake and ready for the day:

  1. Drink a cool glass of water in the morning. The cool temperature will wake you up and the water will kickstart your metabolism making you wake up faster.
  2. Exercise in the morning! A brisk jog or bike ride in the morning air will waken your body and give you more energy for the following day as you improve your fitness.
  3. Don’t drink coffee everyday. You’re body will be accustomed to the effects of caffeine. Save the coffee for those days you really need it!
  4. Don’t Snooze! Snoozing the alarm clock can often make you more tired than if you wake up when your alarm first goes off.
  5. Get pumped! Find something to get excited about today to get you motivated to get moving.

Thanks to Diane Bauman for our sleeping beauty, Reine.

Tempted…

We all have our weaknesses, and sometimes you just gotta give in!

Don’t feel guilty about spending a little extra cash to get that new top your dying to have. Or that beautiful purse you fell in love with at the mall.  It’s those little joys that keeps life exciting sometimes. Even these nuns are getting in their kicks with Mundi products! One great tool for successful advertising photography is humor! This Mundi ad that was shot by Bohm-Marrazzo  shows that even these  saintly women can be tempted by this product.

So kick that buyer’s remorse to the curb this week and let yourself be tempted! Why not?

Happy Spending. 🙂

Monday Mornings…

Mondays are one of those days where you just don’t want to get out of bed in the morning…the bed is still so warm and it’s a little chilly outside. Then your alarm goes off, and you are not a happy camper. Somali cat, Pippi knows just how you feel today!  Sometimes hitting snooze for an extra few minutes is entirely necessary. Brew some fresh coffee  (extra strong) to help you get going.

Happy Monday!
